|The Ginger Lee is one of the original models of
the Schooner Society and was built by Marty Hayes. The model is over
6 feet long and draws a lot of attention from spectators whenever it is on the
water. The model was built using the plank-on-frame technique, with pine and
plywood throughout. An oversize lead keel and rudder allow the Ginger Lee
to handle almost all weather conditions.
The Ginger Lee also draws a lot of attention from other Society members while racing, given that it is large enough to muscle it's way through the crowd and Marty has shown the ability to make use of that feature.
