This gets my vote. One or two 1/6th-scale-man-sized targets located near
the artillery, but far enough away that the player won't get shot too
often. If the target gets shot, the gun cannot fire until "casualties are
replaced" (the gun is resupplied).
Yes, artillery will be vulnerable to long-range fire this way - but last I
knew, such long range fire required the shooter to sit still for several
shots, making him just as vulnerable to the artillery. Besides, real
artillery is quite vulnerable to tanks, too.
The front of the cupola being considered "frontal" gets my vote, too - it's
a lot simpler that way.
